Okay, so, clearly we need to talk about what a capella means, particularly in the modern sense (its history is interesting and has led up to this point, but isn’t very germane to the subject at hand). A capella today means “without [instrumental] accompaniment.” Most vocalists (like Darren Criss) record their vocals separately from the accompanying music, and I’d accept that as a capella were it the isolated vocal track. 

This, on the other hand, is someone with GarageBand or a similar audio editing software attempting to isolate the vocal track by distorting it. That is not a capella.

And it’s not that Glee shuns a capella music - most (if not all) of The Warblers’ music is a capella, partially because they actually have one (at least?) beat boxer. Fair enough. I’d love to hear a capella songs based on the other released tracks, and if that’s not possible, I’d love to hear the isolated vocal tracks (which would cost Fox and the people behind Glee NOTHING), but it doesn’t appear that they’re interested in that.
